Self-portrait by Pasquale Avallone

(oil on cardboard 47x32 cm).

Pasquale Avallone

year 1908.

He established himself as a master and point of reference for the painters of Salerno in the 1930s. He demonstrated his artistic abilities early on, which he derived from his family environment: not yet twenty years old, he participated with two works in an exhibition organized by the Provincial Administration of Salerno, receiving a scholarship that allowed him to attend the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples. He devoted himself to the study of the figure in its relationship with the environment, characterizing his works with a fluid brushstroke and rich in chromaticism.
