Church of San Giovanni in Vietri sul Mare

(pencil drawing on paper 26x35cm).

Richard Dölker

Period year 1928.

Richard Dölker in the 19 images, drawings, ink and watercolours that portray Vietri sul Mare, Albori, Cetara, Erchie, Vatolla, Positano, Nisida and in two cases the remains of the castles of Agropoli and Mercato San Severino, the human presence is an integral part of the architectural data and the physical aspect of the coast of the landscape of the places, crossed by the artist, such as the terraces and the aforementioned coastal towers. Furthermore, his attraction for the sea is present. The intent is to fix the memory and illustrate what happens on the seashore, from swimming competitions to clothes hanging to dry near the cabins, to boats that leave or return. In everyday life, life in contact with nature is the basis on which foreigners, from time to time, epresented their own sentimental and cultural world.
